Stellenbosch Wine Farms – The Town Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch is a town located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. Stellenbosch is known for its beautiful Dutch architecture and oak trees which are scattered all around the place.
It has many gardens, parks, and wine farms and the most popular amongst them is ‘The Braak’ – a square set aside in 1703 as a military parade ground.

Stellenbosch is the home of many wine farms. Apparently, there are over 150 wine farms in Stellenbosch alone.
Aside from the city’s beautiful table mountain, it’s also notoriously known for its wine farms.
The Spier Stellenbosch Wine Farm
The spier is famously known for age-old trees and beautiful Cape-Dutch buildings with a nice river running through it.
At the spier, only ethical farming and creativity is tolerated hence the use of chemicals on is strictly prohibited.
There six ranges of of wines at the Spier. These are organic, vegan and cape classique. The place for tasting the wine at the spier is just beside the dam – which is under the iconice Heath Nash-designed Wine bottle Chandelier or on the veranda.
There are also very tasty means at the spier and the most famous amongst them is the Pasties De Nata.
Aside from enjoying the wine, you can also view some of the contemporary arts in South Africa – Most notably the Eagle Kraal.
You can also visit the Eagle Encounters bird of prey sanctuary, relax at the spa.

Muratie Stellenbosch Wine Farm
Muratie is a very popular wine farm in Stellenbosch which gives the bohemain feel. The Muratie was founded in the year 1685.
It’s the first wine farm to make the pinot noir. The muratie’s tasting room is filled with cobwebs and old paintings to give nostalgic feeling.
The Muratie Wine kitchen offers authentic South African cuisne with nice wine suggestions to mathc them. There’s also a specail menu for kids.
When you visit the Muratie, youre also going to enjoy live music and also see alot of people on picnics.

Delarie Stellenbosch Wine Farm
There are three different ranges of wine at the Delarie Wine Farm. These ranges are (Premimum, Luxury and Iconic).
There are also 5 different tastic options in the art filled lounge. Modern and seasonal bristo dishes are offered at Delarie.
Aside from the wine farm, there’s also a spa tat uses the expenive Jardin de Delarie products.

Blaauwklippen Stellenbosch Wine farm
It’s the oldest wine farm in South Africa as it was established in 1682.
A range of reds and whites, plus rosé, cap classique, a rare zinfandel (also used to make the unique Zin Gin), potstill brandy and an apéretif. The classic tasting includes five wines; there are also wine pairings with macarons, chocolate and fudge.
You can visit Blaauwklippen on the weekends with your family to experince a wonderful getaway because they have bike park, jungle gyms, ladders, swings and a zipline for kids.

Quin Rocks Stellenbosch Wine Farm
There’s no way you can mention the top wine farms in Stellenbosch and omit the magnificent Quin Rocks.
Initially owned by South Africans, it was bought by a Ukranian Gaiduk Family in 2012 and remolded to fit modern taste.
There are different types of wines at Quin rocks and some of them are (Reds, Whites, Cap Classique and a husk spirit.
A sommelier-led tasting of five wines is offered, in the Wine Lounge (with glass walls looking into the cellar) or on the expansive terrace. Oysters, charcuterie or cheese platters are available.
There’s also a mini restaurant at Quin Rocks that serves a seven course menu.
You can visit Quin Rocks with yiur kids because it has a picnic menu, along with lawn games, a jumping castle and a Fatsac to plop into.
Wine Tasting in Stellenbosch Wine Farms – How does it work
Almost all the wine farms on the Stellenbosch wine route charges between $2 – $5.
They all have a dedicated tasting room and well-trained staff to assist you with the tasting.
When you visit a wine farm for tasting, you are given 3 or more different wines to taste.
In most cases, you do not have to pay for your tasting if you buy a bottle of wine afterward. Many tasting room venues are beautiful with fantastic views.
Aside from the wine, most farms have fine-dining restaurants with some of the top chefs in the country.
Best Time to Visit Stellenbosch Wine Farms
The best time to visit any of the Stellenbosch Wine Farms is in the summer – Which is September to.
This is because during this period, the weather is warm and dry and many wines are released.
